Bogotá, 1986

Artista Plástico egresado de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia en 2011. Su obra gira alrededor del inconsciente y se desarrolla en diversos medios plásticos como dibujo, pintura, video y fotografía. Ha participado en varias exposiciones individuales y colectivas, y cuenta con reconocimientos en su trayectoria. Fue ganador de la Beca de Exposiciones Individuales de los 16 Salones Regionales de Artistas con su serie fotográfica “Hope” en 2017; obtuvo el tercer puesto en el 7mo Premio Arte Joven por su trabajo en fotografía “Parque de juegos” en 2014; y recibió una beca de publicación para su trabajo en dibujo “Despertares”, otorgado por La Independiente – Feria de Publicaciones en 2013. Su trabajo "Desierto" fue ganador del Premio Nacional de Fotografía del Ministerio de Cultura en 2020.


STATEMENT

Mi trabajo se relaciona habitualmente con el inconsciente y los procesos que ocurren desde él. De ahí que procesos como el sueño, la asociación libre, el olvido y el recuerdo sean recurrentes al abordar mis proyectos. No antepongo un límite formal en mi trabajo, pero hay un medio que se destaca por estar presente de un modo u otro en él y es la fotografía en sus múltiples dimensiones: como método de captura, como imagen referente, o como base para la elaboración de piezas en instalación, collage, dibujo o pintura. Mi interés por la fotografía tiene que ver con el poder que ha tenido a partir del siglo XX en donde se convirtió en sinónimo de verdad o evidencia, y comenzó a transformar la manera en que se veía el mundo. A partir de este medio se han desprendido discusiones importantes sobre el valor transitorio de la verdad y la manipulación de la información de los cuales me sirvo para explorar el ámbito de la apariencia y la ilusión.

Bogotá, 1986

Plastic Artist graduated from the National University of Colombia in 2011. His work revolves around the unconscious and is developed in various plastic media such as drawing, painting, video and photography. He has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, and has received awards in his career. He was the winner of the Individual Exhibition Grant of the 16 Regional Artists Salons with his photographic series “Hope” in 2017; obtained the third place in the 7th Young Art Award for his work in photography “Playground” in 2014; and received a publication grant for his work in drawing "Awakenings", awarded by La Independiente - Publications Fair in 2013. His work "Desert" was the winner of the National Photography Prize of the Ministry of Culture in 2020.


STATEMENT

My work is usually related to the unconscious and the processes that occur from it. Hence, processes such as dreaming, free association, oblivion and memory are recurrent when approaching my projects. I do not put a formal limit in my work, but there is a medium that stands out for being present in one way or another and it is photography in its multiple dimensions: as a capture method, as a reference image, or as a basis for elaborating pieces in installation, collage, drawing or painting. My interest in photography has to do with the power that it has had since the 20th century where it became synonymous with truth or evidence, and began to transform the way the world was seen. From this medium, important discussions about the transitory value of truth and the manipulation of information have emerged, which I use to explore the field of appearance and illusion.
