Dreamland

Photographic series made in my apartment during the quarantine. The photographs portray different everyday objects found in the apartment floating. The technical conception of the proposal was born from the intention of transforming my living space into a cinematographic environment where a narrative could be developed from the daily life of the confinement.

The floating objects allude to an event in principle impossible, the suspension of gravity. This event, which can be presented in dreams or movies, serves as an allegory of an inner journey towards the transformation of the perception of the everyday, of what is taken for granted and therefore not paid attention to. And by this I mean not only objects but also the space that is inhabited. That monotonous space, through confinement, is transformed into something else. And not because of the space itself, but because of the change in perception in the person who is witnessing that confinement. The limit of quarantine forces a gaze inward.

Serie fotográfica realizada en mi apartamento durante la cuarentena. Las fotografías retratan diferentes objetos cotidianos que se encuentran en el apartamento. Estos objetos aparecen flotando en las fotografías. La concepción técnica de la propuesta nace de la intención de transformar mi espacio de residencia en un ambiente cinematográfico en donde se pudiera desarrollar una narrativa a partir de lo cotidiano del encierro.

Los objetos flotando aluden a un suceso en principio imposible, la suspensión de la gravedad. Este suceso, que se puede presentar en sueños o películas, me sirve como alegoría de un viaje interior hacia la transformación de la percepción sobre lo cotidiano, de aquello que se da por sentado y que por tanto ni se le presta atención. Y con ello me refiero no solo a los objetos sino al espacio que se habita. Ese espacio monótono, a través del confinamiento, se transforma en algo distinto. Y no por el espacio en sí, sino por el cambio de percepción en la persona que presencia ese confinamiento. El límite de la cuarentena obliga a ver hacia dentro.
